Classical models of pipes
In any shop where pipes are on sale, the huge quantity of the diversified
pipes of all forms of all sizes made from the most different materials,
with various ways of processing are exposed. But all this variety
based on the several basic, classical models. The rest are only
modification, new view at these classical forms.
Billiard
It is often met model. In most cases the length of mouthpieces
equal to half of length of all pipes. More often with round chibouk
though there are also oval and, very seldom, facetted. "Billiards"
can be both straight lines, and bent (bent billiard). Actually, speaking
about “billiard” meant the form of the bowl. It is fair
in relation to the majority of described below pipes.
Apple
Such name pipes have received, as it is clear, because of the form
of a bowl reminding an apple. The general form also can be straight
and bent. Generally chibouk is round.
Prince
This bowl is more round, than “apple”, and as though
slightly pressed down from above. Such, slightly flattened out billiard
sphere. Chibouk is more often round, with a long mouthpiece.
Dublin
It is one of the most widespread forms. “Dublin” bowl
is very similar to “billiard room”, but usually above
and hardly noticeably extends up. “Dublin” can be straight
and bent, with chibouk and mouthpiece of any forms.
Bulldog
The bowl, in most cases, in side view has rhombic form, and in place
of its biggest diameter one or two strips are often drawn. Chibouk
and the basis of the mouthpiece are practically always diamond-shaped.
Quite often wedge-shaped mouthpieces that have rhombic basis are
met. The form of pipe can be both straight and bent.
Squat
As a matter of fact it is the same "bulldog" on which
the asphalt skating rink was passed. Speaking easy, diameter of
the bowl in this model is more than its height.
Pot
Perhaps, it is possible to describe as "billiards" with
low bowl. But it is most of all similar to kettle. Pipes can have
straight and bent form having round, sometimes oval chibouk.
Poker
It has absolutely straight, cylindrical bowl. Chibouk, more often,
is joined to a cup under right angle. Sometimes chibouk is absent
and mouthpiece is inserted directly into a bowl. Despite of "straightforwardness"
and simplicity of form, Poker is very convenient pipe.
